Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Police busted an inter-state bike thief gang and arrested three members of the gang with 12 bikes.
More members of the gang are also active and a police team is trying to nab them too.
The SSP of Jamshedpur Prabhat Kumar said on Tuesday that the city police have achieved a major success with this achievement.
He said that on July 25, Deepak Kumar Mahato, a resident of Kamalpur police station, had lodged a complaint of theft of his bike at Kamalpur police station. A team was formed under the leadership of the SP (rural) of the district to investigate. The police started the investigations and arrested one Subhash Gorai with the stolen bike.
With the trail indicated by him Subodh Mahto alias Pintu Mahato was arrested, while a person named Brihaspati Gorai was also arrested.
From the people arrested in this case, the police have seized 11 bikes, two engines and a grinder machine.
All these bikes were stolen from different police station areas of East Singhbhum district.
The SSP Prabhat Kumar said that this gang is active in the border area of Kamalpur and the bordering Bengal state and sells stolen bikes in both the states.
He said that there are indications that more members are active in the gang and the police are trying to nab them too.
