There have been many grassroot leaders that the country has thrown up during the course of time. However, Champai Soren’s success is especially stellar because he comes from the lowest rung of the democracy and has had a long and arduous groundwork to support him at the top.
There are many dismissive of his prospects as a CM at this juncture. However, their misgivings seem to be highly misplaced.
He started his political career long back in 1991 and has never looked back since then. His simple and rustic demeanor is what keeps him close to his constituents and he has proven his mastery of ground level politics at the hustings repeatedly during the last two decades.
Even as a minister, he has been no novice and has shown elan in taking important decisions.
No one can stop doubting Thomases at this juncture from speculating negatively.
However, they must remember that those who have mastered the grassroot politics are also good at governance at the top.
Now that he has taken charge of the state, the state of Jharkhand would certainly look forward to getting an efficient leadership from him.
He has started quite well by saying that he would ensure that he takes everyone and all sections along while leading the state to development. One only hopes that he succeeds in what he sets out for.
