Jamshedpur: The Indian hockey team’s win in Tokyo Olympics sparked celebrations in the city as groups of youths came out of their homes and started celebrating.
Indian men’s hockey team won the bronze medal by defeating Germany by 5-4 and secured third place for itself on Thursday.
The victory evoked grand celebrations in the city too.
A group of enthusiastic sports lovers, led by by Satnam Singh, Eastern India President of All India Sikh Students Federation celebrated victory in grand style at Kali Mati Road area near Sakchi Gurdwara in Jamshedpur on Thursday.
The youths were happy with the performance of the Indian hockey team and celebrated with drums.
Satnam Singh said that the players of the Indian hockey team has made Indians proud with their performance.
He said that the Indian hockey team has brought laurels to India by winning a medal after about four decades. He said that Indian hockey has once again entered the golden era.
Those who were a part of the celebrations included Inder Singh Inder, Amarjit Singh Bhamra, Gurvinder Singh Sindhu, Paramjit Singh Kale, Sarabjit Singh, Gurdit Singh Chola, Rohitdeep Singh, Jaspal Singh, Amarjit Singh, Manmeet Luthra and Manpreet Singh Bhamra.
