Firing in Dhatkidih, two injured, one serious

Jamshdpur: A gang of miscreants tried to thrash an old couple and when the locals tried to stop them they fired indiscriminately at them in Dhatkidih under the jurisdiction of Bistupur police injuring two persons. One injured person is in serious condition.

According to police source, Monday noon, one accused, named by police as Salman, accompanied with other members of his gang, fired several rounds in Dhatkidih. The bullets hit and injured a 50-year-old Md Qayum and Md. Mustakeem.

Qayum has got bullet injuries in leg, while Mustaqueem has bullet injured near chest. Mustaqueem is in serious condition and has been admitted in TMH for treatment.

Police say that the accused Salman and his associates have carried out this firing and they had a criminal antecedents.

The City SP Subhas Chandra Jat said that three days back a person named Zaidi had tried to commit suicide. He was a drug addict. The other addicts with whom he used to take drugs included one Salman, who is an absconder in an Arms Act case registered by Sitaramdera police station.

According to the City SP, on Monday Salman and his gang members went to Zaidi’s parents and charged that they were not getting their son treated properly. City SP, however, added that the reality was that Zaidi was being asked to bring in money which was used for drug addiction by others. He said that Salman and his gang members tried to beat up and assault Zaidi’s parents on the grounds that they were not getting their son treated properly. When the locals intervened and tried to save them, they fired at them.

The police are trying hard to arrest Salman and other accused. Raids are being carried at different places. Police have recovered two used cartridges from the site of occurrence.

City SP Subhash Chandra Jat giving details about the firing incident in Dhatikidh.

According to locals around 5-6 criminals have fired abound 8-10 rounds causing a scare in the entire area.

After receiving information about the incident, senior police officers, including the City SP Subash Chandra Jat himself, visited the site of occurrence and are taking necessary action.
