CHAIBASA – A fierce encounter between police and Naxalites occurred in the border area of Nawada and Khunti districts under the jurisdiction of the Karaikela police station in West Singhbhum.
The police achieved significant success, with Naxalite Area Commandant Budhram Munda being killed in the action.
Details of the Encounter
The intense gunfight took place in the forested region of Arki police station area on the border of West Singhbhum and Khunti districts on Thursday.
According to reports, the encounter resulted in the death of one Naxalite, with several others sustaining injuries.
The police had received intelligence about a gathering of top CPI Maoist commanders, prompting a planned operation by Jharkhand Police and CRPF units.
Joint Operation
Following the crucial intelligence, a joint operation was launched involving Jharkhand Police, CRPF’s 209 Cobra unit, and CRPF 60 battalion personnel from West Singhbhum district.
The encounter began on Thursday afternoon in the forest area of Larki, situated on the border of Khunti and West Singhbhum districts.
During the exchange of fire, one Naxalite was killed, and many others were reported injured.
Official Statements and Search Operation
West Singhbhum SP Ashutosh Shekhar confirmed the encounter, stating that further details would be available once the firing ceased.
Despite being outnumbered, the Naxalites managed to flee, taking advantage of the forest cover.
The police are currently conducting a search operation at the encounter site to track down the fleeing Naxalites.
