Former CM Hemant Soren’s Wife, Kalpana, to File Nomination for Jharkhand By-Election
Kalpana Murmu Soren, spouse of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, is set to file her nomination for the Gandey assembly seat on April 29, following her recent active engagement in politics.
RANCHI – Kalpana Murmu Soren, wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, will officially enter the political arena by filing her nomination for the Gandey seat on April 29.
Her political involvement was notably marked by a compelling speech at the Ulgulan Maharally last Sunday.
The Gandey assembly seat in the Giridih district recently became vacant following the resignation of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed.
The official notification confirming the vacancy was issued by the Assembly Secretariat on December 31, 2023.
This by-election, scheduled for May 20, sees the BJP nominating Dilip Verma as its candidate.
Kalpana’s decision to step into politics came shortly after the arrest of her husband, Hemant Soren, and she has since adopted a confrontational stance against the BJP-led central government.
