Namya Smile Foundation, in collaboration with Rotaract Club, educates over 375 girls in Sai Saraswati English School on menstruation and mental health, distributing Menstrupedia comics.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Johar Periods campaign, run jointly by the Namya Smile Foundation and Rotaract Club of Steel City, reached Sai Saraswati English School in Birsanagar on Thursday.
The organization conducted a period workshop for more than 375 girl students at the school located in Zone No. 6 of Birsanagar.
Under the Johar Periods campaign, Menstrupedia comic books were distributed to explain the process of menstruation easily.
Despite advancements, societal acceptance to openly discuss menstruation is still a challenge.
Namya Smile Foundation has collaborated with Menstrupedia to tackle this issue.
During the workshop, Reshu Ranjan and Prathama Bose of the organization provided detailed insights into menstruation and related topics via Menstrupedia comics and Johar Periods videos.
The ‘MAHI’ (Mental Awesomeness and Health Initiative) campaign by Namya Smile Foundation also focused on mental health awareness among the girls.
Kunal Sarangi, Founder and former MLA of the organization, emphasized the need for societal change in the perception of menstruation.
He stated that the change could be initiated by educating and making girls aware of menstruation.
Among those present during the program were Director Jayanti Shanta, Principal AK Ghosh, Coordinator Kiranjit Kaur, teachers, and members of Namya Smile Foundation.
