Jamshedpur MP Leads Discussion on District Development; MLAs and Officers Attend
In a meeting led by MP Bidyut Baran Mahato, Jamshedpur’s key representatives gathered to discuss district development, education, health, energy, and sanitation, ensuring public interests.
JAMSHEDPUR – The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting was held under the chairmanship of MP, Jamshedpur Bidyut Baran Mahato.
MLAs from Ghatshila, Potka, and Baharagora, along with Zilla Parishad’s key members and departmental officers, attended the meeting.
The MP stressed the need for public representatives to be informed about any inaugurated or foundational schemes.
The District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr. Manjunath Bhajantri emphasized on education and health as district priorities and required departments to clearly state the physical condition of schemes in their reports.
The meeting was convened in the Collectorate Auditorium, Jamshedpur and involved a detailed review of various departmental functions, including the Energy Department.
Complaints about electricity bill payments were addressed, and the Electricity Department was directed to enhance public awareness, replace aging equipment, and improve working standards.
Deputy General Manager BSNL Jamshedpur was instructed to list all district towers.
Drinking water and sanitation were discussed, with emphasis on regular water supply and the completion of ongoing projects.
Educational needs were assessed, with the Deputy Commissioner instructing the District Education Officer to propose additional classrooms where required.
JSLPS updates were shared, including achievements in credit linkage and youth placements in various companies.
The meeting concluded with a discussion about the prevention and treatment of dengue, the restoration of 108 ambulance service, and a review of road construction within the district.
District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committees (DISHAs) have been established to enhance coordination among elected representatives in Parliament, State Legislatures, and Local Governments (Panchayati Raj Institutions/Municipal Bodies) for effective and timely development.
DISHA aims to facilitate a quarterly review of development activity at the district level.
The Chairperson of a DISHA committee is the most senior Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) elected from the district and nominated by the Ministry of Rural Development.
The DISHA committee holds quarterly meetings, chaired by the MP, with attendance from elected representatives and district officials.
The DISHA committees are able to request information and require action on matters discussed during the DISHA meetings.
The District Collector is responsible for convening the meeting and ensuring timely follow up.
