55-Year-Old Man Killed in Potka Block Quarry Explosion; Villagers Protest Safety Lapses

JAMSHEDPUR – A tragic incident at a stone quarry in the Kowali thana area of Potka block near Jamshedpur has left the local community in shock.
Manoj Puran, a 55-year-old man, lost his life when a blast at the quarry occurred as he was shepherding goats near the site.
The incident took place in the Lakhansai panchayat along the Hata-Mosabani road, 28 km from the city.
The force of the explosion caused rocks and stones to hit Manoj Puran in the chest, leaving him seriously injured.
He was rushed to Tata Main Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Officer-in-Charge of Kowali thana, Ranjit Oraon, has highlighted potential safety lapses by the quarry management, prompting an immediate investigation.
Action will be taken against the quarry owner after the investigation is completed, as authorities are closely examining if safety measures were overlooked.
In the aftermath of the tragic event, the villagers gathered at the quarry to express grief and anger, halting ongoing work at the site.
