Young Man Allegedly Sets Fire in Hotel Room After Rejection; Woman Suffers 40% Burns
Investigation underway in Jamshedpur after a young man sets fire to a hotel room, injuring both himself and a woman, following a rejected marriage proposal.
JAMSHEDPUR – A shocking incident unfolded at Hotel Chandra under Sakchi police station in Jamshedpur.
A young man named R Gupta allegedly sprinkled kerosene and set fire to room number 103, severely injuring himself and his friend, M Das, who suffered 40% burns.
The tragic event began with a birthday celebration as R Gupta booked the room to celebrate his birthday and cut a cake.
However, tensions allegedly escalated when R Gupta pressed for marriage, and M Das, who is reportedly married to another man, refused.
In a fit of emotion, R Gupta allegedly ignited the fire, resulting in his critical condition and M Das’ extensive injuries.
The police arrived at the hotel to investigate the matter, questioning the hotel staff and manager.
M Das is currently undergoing treatment at TMH, while R Gupta has been referred to RIMS.
