South Eastern Railway Achieves Growth and Focuses on Safety: GM A K Mishra

The South Eastern Railway (SER) has made significant progress in the previous financial year, showing a 3.89% increase in freight loading and completion of various construction projects. The General Manager urged the staff to contribute to national growth during the Independence Day celebration.

KOLKATA – South Eastern Railway (SER) celebrated the 77th Independence Day with great pride and enthusiasm, reflecting on the achievements of the last financial year and looking forward to the future.

The event was marked by the hoisting of the National Flag by General Manager, Anil Kumar Mishra, who took the salute at the ceremonial parade. The gathering was a symbol of unity and dedication to the nation’s growth.

During the financial year 2022-23, SER achieved a significant milestone by loading 202.6 million tonnes of freight, registering a 3.89% increase from the previous year. In the current financial year, SER has already loaded 66.79 million tonnes of freight, showcasing a robust start.

Infrastructure development remained a key focus, with the completion of construction work for 14 Road Over Bridges and 35 Foot Over Bridges in the last financial year, and up to July 2023. This emphasis on construction was further highlighted by the raising of platforms at 35 stations and extensions at 13 stations, enhancing passenger convenience and safety.

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 69 essential stations of South Eastern Railway have been identified for redevelopment. Additionally, 201 KM of doubling/third line work has been completed, creating additional capacity and improving efficiency.

The commitment to safety was evident with the elimination of 53 level crossings and the rescue of 1477 children from railway premises by RPF officers and staff.

Promoting local culture, SER implemented the "One Station one Product" scheme with 31 OSOP Stalls for local artisans, potters, weavers, tribals, and others, supporting the local economy.

In conjunction with Independence Day, all SER workers participated in the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign, showcasing solidarity and patriotism.

During the event, the General Manager urged the staff to continue to contribute to national growth, setting a positive and ambitious tone for the future.

The South Eastern Railway continues to be a beacon of progress, safety, and community engagement, marking a path of excellence and contribution to the nation.
