Jharkhand players perform remarkably, clinching one silver and four bronze medals in the Yonex Sunrise East Zone Inter-State Team and Individual Badminton Championship 2023.
JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand players have performed excellently in Yonex Sunrise East Zone Badminton Championship 2023.
K Prabhakar Rao, secretary of the Jharkhand Badminton Association (JBA), was present at the event to boost the morale of the players.
While Ashok Joshi, vice president of the JBA, served as the team manager, Jharkhand players showcased their skills under the guidance of Coach Ravi Kesri and Rahul Kumar.
Jharkhand shuttlers brought home one silver and four bronze medals overall in the competition, marking a significant achievement.
In the Men’s Team Championship, Jharkhand exhibited an excellent performance but fell short to Uttar Pradesh in the semifinals.
Vinay Singh and Manisha Rani Tirkey contributed further to the medal tally by securing Bronze in their respective categories.
In the Men’s Singles competition, Shantanu Sharma proudly won the Bronze medal.
Manisha Rani Tirkey managed to claim a bronze in the under-19 women’s single competition, demonstrating remarkable skill.
In a thrilling match, Priyashu Tirkey and Ananya Singh earned a silver medal in the under-19 mixed doubles competition, falling to Bengal’s Dev and Muskan 21-17, 13-21, and 17-21.
The tournament witnessed Jharkhand men and women players earning the maximum number of medals ever in various categories including the Men’s Team championship, Mixed under-19, Men and Women’s Singles, and Senior Mixed Double events.
