Illegal liquor production busted near Sidhgora police station, Jamshedpur; over 2000 empty bottles and 700 liters of illicit alcohol seized.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a decisive action against the unlawful production of alcohol, the Jamshedpur Excise Department conducted a raid near the Sidhgora police station at Babudih, shutting down a small illicit liquor plant. The raid led to the seizure of 700 liters of illicit alcohol, more than 2000 empty bottles, and stickers with lids.
According to department inspector Ramdas Bhagat, the raid was carried out based on information about the ongoing illicit alcohol production in Sidhgora. "Illicit booze was filled into pricey liquor bottles and sold after being filled at low cost from other states," Bhagat said, explaining the modus operandi. The confiscated goods were subsequently transported to the office of the Excise Department.
Despite the successful raid, no arrests have been made at the scene, and the investigation continues.
The operation reflects the ongoing efforts by the local authorities to curb illegal trade and production of alcohol, which poses significant health risks to the consumers and loss in revenue for the state.
