The Sports Department of Tata Steel successfully organized a two-day Inter-Joint Development Council (JDC) Carrom Championship, fostering a healthy competitive spirit among employees.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Sports Department of Tata Steel successfully organized the Inter-Joint Development Council (JDC) Carrom Championship from June 15 to 16, 2023 at JRD Tata Sports Complex.
The objective of the program is to promote sports as an integral part of a healthy lifestyle.
Hemant Gupta, Head, Adventure Programs and Sports, Tata Steel, along with Sanjay Kumar Singh, Vice President, Tata Workers Union, was present as the chief guest on the occasion.
The championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from a total of 50 teams, comprising 30 teams in the men’s section and 20 teams in the women’s section.
More than 200 players showcased their talent in this year’s competition.
The men’s section saw 29 exciting matches, while the women’s section saw 19 hard-fought carrom matches.
Displaying exceptional skill and sportsmanship, the team from Tata Steel Lime Plant emerged victorious in the men’s section, showcasing their strength and determination.
The women’s section was equally fierce, with LD3 coming out victorious in all their hard-fought matches.
To ensure fair play and adherence to the rules, the championship benefited from the expertise of renowned technical officials including Tilak Ram, Jaswant, J Behera, Shiva and N Das, who performed their roles admirably.
Tata Steel’s commitment to the promotion of sports and fostering a sense of camaraderie among its employees was evident throughout the championship.
The event provided an excellent platform for the employees to showcase their carrom skills and foster a healthy competitive spirit.
