National Hawker Federation organized a workshop in Jamshedpur to protest against Mango Municipal Corporation and to demand the swift establishment of vending zones.
JAMSHEDPUR – The National Hawker Federation organized a street vendor workshop in Jamshedpur on Saturday.
During the workshop, the participants expressed their protest against the Mango municipality.
Anita Das, Additional General Secretary of the National Hawker Federation, was present as the chief guest at the event.

Das highlighted the process of desolation against the law and demanded the immediate settlement in the vending zones.
She also shared experiences from the struggle and movement for the Vending Zone in Ranchi.
Meanwhile, Federation member Uttam Chakraborty revealed that the street vendors were trained on the Street Vendors 2014 Act during the workshop.
Vending zones and vending markets in different cities were showcased through projectors.
Chakraborty highlighted that in a meeting of the Town Vending Committee of the Municipal Corporation on May 2, 2023, a 6-member team was established to identify vending zones, but no such zone has been marked so far.
He indicated several government lands as potential vending zones and demanded immediate action.
Chakraborty warned that if no progress is made, the street vendors will continue to agitate to claim their rights, and protests might intensify.
