National Student Seminar at NML Jamshedpur encourages research into AI’s role in manufacturing. Experts from various fields converge for knowledge sharing.
JAMSHEDPUR – The National Student Seminar on Materials and Metallurgical Engineering was launched at the National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) in Jamshedpur on Thursday.
The seminar, entitled ‘Behind the Teacher’s Desk’ (BTTD), has been organized in collaboration with the Jamshedpur chapter of the Indian Institute of Metallurgy (IIM), Tata Steel Limited, the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, and the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (ACSIR).
The two-day event was inaugurated by Prof. Gautam Sutradhar, Director of NIT, and Dr. AK Srivastava, Director of NML. Dr. Sandeep Ghosh Chowdhury, President of BTTD, and Dr. AN Bhagat, President of IIM Jamshedpur, were also in attendance.
Prof. Sutradhar expressed the hope that the seminar would serve to spark the creativity of young minds and enhance their interpersonal skills.
He urged the student participants to concentrate on areas such as additive manufacturing, revitalizing foundry-based technology, the incorporation of IoT in manufacturing processes, and, notably, the use of artificial intelligence in manufacturing.
The seminar aims to provide a platform for interaction with experts from industry, R&D centers, and academia, enabling students to expand their knowledge base. The two-day event will conclude on Friday.
