Jamshedpur Management Association organizes a compelling World Environment Day session featuring Mr. Sanjiv Paul, discussing the sustainability of Planet Earth and human actions impacting it.
JAMSHEDPUR – On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Jamshedpur Management Association (JMA) hosted a significant session featuring Mr. Sanjiv Paul, Former Vice President (Safety, Health & Sustainability) of Tata Steel.
This session, under the theme of ‘Sustainability of Planet Earth,’ was held at the Centre for Excellence and attended by over 80 participants.
The event witnessed diverse representation, with attendees from Tata Steel, TSUISL, ICICI Bank, Tata Steel Long Products, Tata Pigments, Manipal Tata Medical College, XLRI, and Jamshedpur-based SMEs, as well as JMA board and management committee members.
Mr. Chanakya Chaudhary, President-JMA and Vice President (Corporate Services), Tata Steel, set the context for the session. He warmly welcomed all attendees and introduced Mr. Paul.
During his address, Mr. Paul shared insights into how human actions have negatively affected life’s sustainability on Earth. He spoke about the concept of ‘World Overshoot Day,’ the day on which humanity exhausts the year’s renewable ecological reserves. Each year, this date shifts closer to January 1, indicating a pressing need to push it back towards December 31.
The event proved to be highly engaging, with numerous questions posed about how individuals and society can positively impact the environment. In recognition of his efforts towards raising awareness on this critical subject, Mr. Sanjiv Paul was presented with a token of appreciation by the President of JMA.
