Vikas Singh Demands Repair of Damaged Suleis Gates Before Monsoon; Threatens Legal Action against Drinking Water Sanitation Department Officials.
JAMSHEDPUR – In the valley of the Subarnarekha River in Mango, local residents are raising concerns over the state of the three dilapidated Sluice gates as the monsoon season rapidly approaches.
BJP leader Vikas Singh was called to the scene and informed of the gate’s condition, which had deteriorated due to lack of maintenance since its construction.
Residents explained that the iron gates don’t budge, even after hours of effort, resulting in localized flooding and significant property loss when the river level rises during the monsoon season.
The Sluice Gates in Mango’s Shyam Nagar, Shanti Nagar, and Kunwar Basti are non-functional, despite initial hopes that they would provide lifelong protection from flooding.
Upon inspection, Vikas Singh found that the gate’s parts have rusted due to lack of maintenance, and even after strenuous efforts, it failed to lower.
Singh promised to bring the issue to the attention of the Deputy Commissioner and the Chief Engineer of the Water Resources Department.
Furthermore, he warned that if no action is taken, he will file a case against the Chief Engineer and Executive Engineer of the Water Resources Department for negligence, risking lives, property, and misuse of government funds.
