Seraikela district police succeed in child abduction case, rescuing the minor and capturing three kidnappers, with others still at large.
SERAIKELA – In a significant accomplishment, the Seraikela district police managed to rescue a minor who had been abducted with the intention of forced marriage.
Alongside the safe recovery of the minor, the police also arrested three kidnappers, putting them into judicial custody.
However, three of the kidnappers are still elusive, but the district police captain assured that they will be apprehended soon.
On May 11, the father of the minor filed a complaint at the RIT police station, accusing Raunak Kumar Verma, Sahil Hembram, Rohit Kumar Verma, Rahul Kumar Verma, Rajeev Nayan Verma, and Sunny.
The seriousness of the situation prompted the formation of a team, led by Chandan Vats, DSP Headquarters.
Acting swiftly, the team apprehended Sunny Kumar and Rohit Kumar Verma on May 24, both of whom confessed to their role in the abduction.
They were subsequently placed into judicial custody.
SP Anand Prakash further revealed that with coordinated efforts and technical support, the minor girl was safely recovered on May 25, 2023.
Raunak Verma, another named suspect, was arrested and placed into judicial custody.
A mobile phone, believed to be related to the crime, was also recovered.
