Tata Steel auctions inaugural batch of Cold Rolled Steel coils, raising over Rs. 1 Cr for cancer care at Tata Medical Centre, Kolkata.
KOLKATA – Tata Steel, in an act of corporate goodwill, made a substantial donation of Rs. 1,00,73,480 to the Tata Medical Centre (TMC) in Kolkata.
The funds were raised through the auction of the first four coils (62 MT) of Cold Rolled Steel, produced at Tata Steel’s newly commissioned state-of-the-art Cold Rolling Mill complex unit in Kalinganagar, Odisha.
The auction of these inaugural coils marks a significant milestone for Tata Steel, demonstrating its commitment to excellence and positive societal impact.
The cheque was presented to TMC on May 25, 2023, in the presence of the highest bidders at the auction, namely Tata Steelium Channel Partners – Naresh Steel from Mumbai, G K Ispat from Bangalore, and Shree Balajee from Chennai.
The event was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Dr. Pattatheyil Arun, Director, Tata Medical Centre, and several key representatives from Tata Steel.
In expressing his gratitude, Dr. Pattatheyil Arun acknowledged the “magnanimity and sense of service demonstrated by Tata Steelium channel partners”, noting that such efforts would further inspire TMC’s mission to alleviate the challenges cancer patients face. Prabhat Kumar, Vice President, Marketing and Sales (Flat Products), Tata Steel, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing Tata Steel’s commitment to building an empowered community through conscientious collaboration.
Company officials said that the generous donation from Tata Steel and the collective effort of its channel partners underscore the power of collaboration in bolstering critical healthcare initiatives and fostering a more resilient community.
