President Murmu emphasizes sustainable progress and eco-tourism potential in Jharkhand during her reception at Raj Bhavan.
Ranchi: Smt Droupadi Murmu, President of India, attended a civic reception hosted in her honour by the Government of Jharkhand at Raj Bhavan, Ranchi this evening.
Speaking at the event, she hailed Jharkhand’s distinct identity since ancient times and the people’s respect towards natural resources. She said the state’s path to development lies in protecting and enhancing the precious forest wealth, as about 30 percent of the area is covered by forests.
Highlighting the fundamental feature of Jharkhand’s society that prioritises the group over the individual, the President urged everyone to keep this spirit of cooperation and collectivity alive and strengthen it.
She stated that Jharkhand, full of natural beauty, holds immense potential for development in eco-tourism. The proper development of this sector, she believes, would provide numerous employment and entrepreneurial opportunities to the state’s youth.
The President referred to Jharkhand as ‘Ratna-Garbha’ due to the priceless minerals present, making it one of the richest states in the country in terms of mineral wealth. However, she stressed that the most valuable assets of Jharkhand are its hardworking, loving, and simple people.
President Murmu acknowledged the modern industries, especially those based on mineral resources, that were established in Jharkhand.
These industries, she said, have paved the way for modern development.
She stressed that the benefits of such development should reach all sections of society, especially the marginalized, and expressed her wishes for Jharkhand to become a leading state in terms of development in the near future.
