Saryu Roy, MLA of Jamshedpur East, schedules a meeting to address the concerning pollution levels in the Kharkai and Swarnarekha rivers.
JAMSHEDPUR – Saryu Roy, MLA of Jamshedpur East, conducted an inspection of various Ghats stretching from Bistupur Bodhanwala Ghat to Sonari Domuhani today.
The inspection brought to light the deplorable state of the Kharkai river, which is marred by pollution and resembles a drain more than a river.

The discharge of city waste into the river has caused the water to turn black and emit an unpleasant odour.
Furthermore, an extensive proliferation of water hyacinth has been observed in the river, blurring the distinction between the river and adjacent fields in certain areas.
In response to these findings, Roy has organised a meeting with local citizens, various social and voluntary organisations, and prominent intellectuals of the city.
The meeting is scheduled for May 28, 2023, at 10:30 am at the Bistupur Paramhans Lakshmi Nath Goswami temple.
The objective of the meeting is to discuss and plan initiatives aimed at restoring the health of the Kharkai and Subarnarekha rivers within a year.
Several people including Mukul Mishra, Suranjan Rai, Rakesh Singh, Tileshwar Prajapati, Sheshnath Pathak, Chunnu Bhumij, Atul Singh, and Uttam Das accompanied the MLA during his visit.
