Jamshedpur Workers’ College organized a successful free health campaign on May 24, 2023, featuring screenings and a lecture on tobacco-related health risks.
JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur Workers’ College, in an impressive endeavor to promote health and wellness, hosted a free mega health drive on May 24, 2023.
The event drew an encouraging response from students, faculty, and staff who participated in a plethora of health check-ups and screenings.
Services and tests, administered by a team from Brahmanand Narayan Multispeciality Hospital, included blood pressure measurement, blood sugar level test, cholesterol check, ECG, and mammography for women.
These tests aimed at an early detection of potential health concerns among attendees.

The health drive also featured a special lecture by Dr. Amit Kumar, a renowned Medical Oncologist from Brahmanand Narayan Multispeciality Hospital. In alignment with the hospital’s upcoming Anti-Tobacco Day on May 31, Dr. Kumar underscored the growing health risk of tobacco consumption and its connection to cancer.
In his talk, Dr. Kumar elaborated on strategies to prevent and reverse the impact of tobacco-related diseases, focusing on early detection, lifestyle modifications, and timely medical intervention.
The lecture aimed to sensitize participants to the hazards of tobacco consumption and equip them with information for healthier decision-making.
Concluding the event, Professor Subhash Chandra Das, the in-charge, extended his gratitude to Dr. Kumar for his enlightening insights and thanked the participants for their active involvement. He stressed the value of such initiatives in fostering wellness and encouraged everyone to adopt proactive health measures.
