Tata Steel celebrated International Day for Biodiversity with numerous eco-conscious activities, from sapling plantation to biodiversity-themed wall painting, across various Jamshedpur locations.
JAMSHEDPUR – In line with its commitment to conserving, enhancing, and restoring biodiversity, Tata Steel held a series of activities to commemorate the International Day for Biodiversity at different locations throughout Jamshedpur.
The celebrations were attended by Pranay Sinha, Chief Corporate Services, Tata Steel, as the Chief Guest and Shailesh Kumar Singh, Vice President, Tata Workers’ Union.
This year’s International Day for Biodiversity carried the theme, “From Agreement to Action: Build Back Biodiversity.”
Tata Steel organized a range of events, including a sapling plantation drive, wall painting, and sensitization of children on Biodiversity. Over 1200 children from the ongoing Summer Camp 2023 at JRD Tata Sports Complex started the day by planting more than 500 saplings at Jubilee Park. Later, another plantation drive took place at Security Flats, Garam nala, where over 300 saplings were planted.
A unique feature of the celebration was a wall painting session at Kadma Biodiversity Park. Here, a 17-metre wall was painted, contributing to a special and memorable day.
A separate session was also arranged by the Sports Department at JRD Tata Sports Complex to educate children on the importance of biodiversity for sustainable living, with over 200 students in attendance.
These initiatives were planned and executed by the Corporate Services team of Tata Steel.
