The assailant subsequently attempted suicide, but his life was spared when his pistol slipped from his grasp.
The critically injured woman was rushed to Sadar Hospital for treatment while the police launched an investigation into the incident.
The victim, identified as 26-year-old A Kumari, was preparing for her wedding at Javed Habib Salon when her ex-boyfriend stormed in and fired at her.
The bullet hit her left shoulder, exiting through her right chest.
The seriously injured woman was immediately taken to Sadar Hospital where she is currently under medical care.
Amidst the chaos, the assailant attempted to end his own life by shooting himself in the temple, but he was thwarted when the pistol fell from his hand. A Kumar, the man who fired the shots, was briefly apprehended by a salon employee before managing to escape.
Kumar, son of B Singh from Maheshpur village, is reported to be a member of the Bihar Police in Patna.
This tragic incident occurred ahead of A Kumari’s wedding ceremony, which was set to take place later that night.
The crime was recorded on the beauty parlor’s CCTV, and the footage is currently being scrutinized by the police.
Sadar DSP Rajesh Kumar, who reached the crime scene, confirmed the incident and mentioned that the investigation is ongoing.
The hospital’s CS reassured that the bullet did not strike any vital organs, thus keeping the victim out of immediate danger.
