Honoring Guru Arjun Dev Ji’s martyrdom, the Gedu family in Sitaramdera held a chabeel, distributing Chana, Halwa, and Sharbat among passers-by.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a tribute to the martyrdom of Guru Arjun Dev Ji, the Gedu family in Sitaramdera set up a ‘chabeel’ on Monday.
The event was a spiritual and social gathering, marked by the recitation of Shri Akhand Path and Sukhmani Sahib Ji, followed by kirtan.
Prayers were offered for the welfare of all beings, reflecting the core tenets of Sikhism.
Following the prayers, the family distributed Chana, Halwa, and Sharbat to those passing by, in keeping with the tradition of chabeel, which promotes generosity and community spirit.
Harpal Singh from the Gedu family discussed the significance of the event.
He reminded attendees that Guru Arjun Dev Ji accepted his martyrdom ordered by Mughal Emperor Jahangir, demonstrating immense resilience.
The Guru’s actions were an example of the commitment to truth, humanity, and pluralism that he sought to instill in Sikhs.
Several members of the Gedu family, including Harjinder Singh, Didar Singh, Satpal Singh Pinky, Harpal Singh, Paramveer Singh, Amardeep Singh, Jagwinder Singh, Neetu Kaur, Anshu, Priya, Neha, Rajbir Singh, Chandan, Tarandeep Singh, and Jagdeep Singh, took part in the service.
