Library Development Committee of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Reviews District Libraries, Suggests Improvements

A review meeting conducted by the Library Development Committee of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly reviewed the status of district libraries, discussed departmental schemes, and issued key guidelines for improvement.

Jamshedpur – Under the chairmanship of the Chairperson-cum-MLA Mrs. Arpana Sen Gupta, the Library Development Committee of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly convened a review meeting with office bearers at the Parliament Auditorium in Jamshedpur.

Committee member-cum-MLA Mr. Mangal Kalindi also attended the meeting.

The committee sought information about the existence of libraries in public libraries and government schools across the district, the availability of books, the presence of other basic facilities, and the condition of library buildings.

Necessary guidelines were issued to the office bearers based on this review.

The Chairperson also suggested that all departmental officers open a library within their respective offices to encourage continuous learning and exposure to new techniques and ideas. The Planning Officer confirmed that two libraries are currently operational within the premises of the Planning Office in Ghatshila and Golmuri.

The meeting also reviewed the development schemes implemented in the district over the last three years and issued necessary instructions to office bearers.

Member Mr. Kalindi emphasized the importance of ensuring government schemes benefit the most marginalized individuals in society.

Among other directives, the committee instructed the Pollution Board officer to conduct a pollution survey in the Sarjamda area.

It also discussed opening ultrasound centers for pregnant women in the Bodam and Patmada areas, aiming to alleviate the travel burden on these women during pregnancy.

Present at the meeting were the DFO, Civil Surgeon, Director NEP, District Supply Officer, SOR, Executive Officer of Mango Municipal Corporation, District Public Relation Officer, District Superintendent of Education, and executive engineers from various executive departments.
