Chaibasa – In a major development, Naxalites targeted and demolished a mobile tower in Pandug, under the jurisdiction of Goilkera police station in Chaibasa.
The attack, which occurred at 6 pm on Tuesday, resulted in complete damage to the tower, with the rebels also setting fire to the on-site generator.
The attack comes amid ongoing dispute with the Munda of the village and it is learnt that they also assaulted the munda of the village.

This incident follows a similar act of vandalism by the Naxalites, who, during a period of Naxal ban, set ablaze the generator of another mobile tower in Patrang on Monday.
The targeted tower in Pandug had been part of a broader initiative to increase mobile connectivity in the jungle and remote areas.
The tower was being erected in the premises of the upgraded middle school in Patung village, within Goilkera’s remote area.
According to reports, the tower’s construction was nearly 90 percent complete before the attack.
The local police are investigating the matter.
