Jamshedpur: Two high school students from Jamshedpur, identified as Shobhit Singh, 17, and Shraravaj Kumar, 16, tragically drowned while trying to take a selfie at the Jiling Gora Dam waterfall.
Both teenagers were residents of different police station areas.
Shraravaj resided in New Subhash Colony Ulidih, under the Dimna Road police station, while Shobhit lived in Laxmi Nagar under the jurisdiction of the Burmamines police station.

The duo, who were schoolmates and studying in the 11th grade, were part of a group of seven friends who had gone to bathe in the dam.
According to reports, they ventured into deep waters while trying to capture a selfie with the waterfall, leading to the unfortunate incident.
Despite their friends’ attempts to save them, the pair drowned.
Local divers, after strenuous efforts spanning two hours, managed to recover the bodies from the river.
The local police sent the bodies to Seraikela Sadar Hospital for postmortem examinations.
Regrettably, this is not an isolated incident at the Jiling Gora Dam.
Local police report that similar accidents claim two to four lives each month, raising concerns about safety measures in the area.
