Tata Steel Mining awarded ‘Excellence in Biodiversity Management’ at CII ITC Sustainability Awards

Conserving and enhancing biodiversity is an integral part of TSML’s corporate strategy and value system and it strives to mainstream biodiversity in all its strategic and operational decisions.

Jamshedpur – Tata Steel Mining Limited (TSML) has been awarded with Excellence in Biodiversity management at the CII ITC Sustainability Awards 2022 for its exemplary initiatives taken towards conserving biodiversity around the areas of its operations.

Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, presented the coveted award at a glittering ceremony held at New Delhi on Wednesday. Rajarshi Palit, Senior General Manager, Tata Steel Mining Limited received the award on behalf of the Company. Community awareness programmes like Prajatiya Khadyotsav, Green Therapy, Jaibakala Vividhata, conservation measures for the local silkworm species Sukinda Ecorace, butterfly garden, Medicinal park by TSML earned the praise of the assessors of the award.

Pankaj Satija, Managing Director, Tata Steel Mining Limited said, “We are happy to receive this award which is a recognition of the efforts of our team towards the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable operational practices in TSML.

It will go a long way to inspire the team to continue giving our best for the cause. We thank the jury for considering us for this award.”

TSML has been trying to instill a sense of urgency towards the cause among its employees, school students, community around its operations and other stakeholders through awareness programmes and its biodiversity initiatives are guided by the Biodiversity Management Plans prepared for its sites.
