JNAC Special Officer Sanjay Kumar orders action against commercial use of parking lots, aims to restore original parking patterns.
Jamshedpur: In a significant move, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) held a meeting on Wednesday chaired by Special Officer Sanjay Kumar. The focus of the meeting was the illegal commercial use of parking lots and basements in Jamshedpur.
Following a High Court order, the JNAC has initiated action against over 100 building owners who have deviated from the approved building maps and are conducting business in designated parking spaces.
The Special Officer directed employees to issue notices to these building owners, requiring them to vacate the parking lots within a week and cease all commercial activities in the basements.
In the event of non-compliance, the JNAC plans to involve the Magistrate and local police to ensure the parking lots are vacated. This could even lead to the demolition of structures built in these parking lots.
To maintain transparency and provide evidence of the operation, Kumar has ordered the team to take photographs of the commercial use of parking spaces.
He also asked for photographs to be taken with building owners or shopkeepers operating in the buildings where notices have been served.
The meeting, attended by various officials and engineers from the city, marked a significant step towards restoring the time-bound parking pattern in all buildings, enhancing the city’s efforts to deal with parking and traffic issues effectively.
