CRPF jawan injured by IED in West Singhbhum district, airlifted to Ranchi for treatment. Search operation underway for Naxalites.
Jamshedpur: In an unfortunate incident on Thursday afternoon, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was injured by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites.
The incident occurred near Ichahatu village under Goilkera police station in the West Singhbhum district.
The injured jawan, identified as C S Mani of the CRPF’s 60 Battalion, was initially treated at the Railway Hospital in Chakradharpur.
He was later airlifted from the Asantalia helipad to Ranchi for further medical attention.
The IED detonation took place during a search operation in the area, initiated due to reports of Naxalite presence.
CRPF personnel were among the forces involved in the operation. C S Mani and a fellow jawan were riding a bike from their Saitaba camp towards Ichahatu when the IED, concealed underground, exploded.
While Seshamani sustained injuries, the bike was completely destroyed.
The authorities have escalated the search operation in the aftermath of the incident.
Meanwhile, medical professionals in Ranchi are doing their best to help injured jawan CS Mani recover from the incident.
