Relatives stage a sit-in at MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur after Mahavir Pandya’s death, demanding compensation, employment, and action against allegedly negligent staff.
Jamshedpur: Chaos erupted at MGM Hospital following the death of Mahavir Pandya, a Sitaramdera resident, in the general ward.
Relatives demanded compensation, employment for a family member, and action against the doctor and nurse they deemed responsible.
They staged a sit-in at the hospital gate and blocked entry, raising slogans against Health Minister Banna Gupta.
They accused the minister of neglecting the hospital’s deteriorating conditions despite being from Jamshedpur.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Sakchi police station officers arrived but were initially denied entry.
Eventually, they entered the hospital on foot, informed the district administration, and Magistrate Nisha Kumari and Sumit Prakash arrived to address the situation.
They assured the relatives that the matter would be investigated and appropriate action taken against those found guilty, leading to the end of the protest.
