Auto and bovine stands

It is beyond high time that both the district and police administrations take note and devise a saner scheme to maintain smooth traffic flow.

One wonders if the Traffic Police department is concentrating its attention on helmet checking although it goes without saying that worsening traffic conditions requires one to be well protected against unforeseen and unexpected possibility of accidents on streets where traffic norms are sent for a toss by drivers, roadside vendors, vagabond bovines and two-legged living forms all in a rush to nowhere.

It has been observed that one traffic cop cracks his baton on the rear of one among 100 auto rickshaws parked illegally right along the boundary wall of Sakchi Birsa Munda Park, as a warning to break the cluster of three wheelers infiltrating onto one segment of the ever busy Kalimati Road and then rushes back to join the other cops to scan the road for helmetless two wheeler riders while the congestion along the road, like the river, where men may bawl and men may curse, but the traffic bottleneck goes on forever.

This is but an example of the prevailing traffic condition in Jamshedpur.

It is beyond high time that both the district and police administrations take note and devise a saner scheme to maintain smooth traffic flow and simultaneously ensure that all two wheeler riders understand the importance of wearing helmets to live and ride on.
