Jamshedpur: Sanjay Kumar Mishra, the Chief Justice of Jharkhand, arrived in Jamshedpur on Saturday to take part in a programme at the Utkal Association organized on the occasion of Utkal Diwas. Utkal Diwas is celebrated on April 1 every year.
Justice Mishra arrived at the Jamshedpur Circuit House. There, Deputy Commissioner Vijay Jadhav, Senior SP Prabhat Kumar, and members of the Bar welcomed him and gave him a bouquet.
Justice Mishra will remain in the city to take part in the 7:00 p.m. Utkal Divas programme at the Utkal Association.
On February 20, 2023, Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra had taken the oath of office to become the 14th Chief Judge of the Jharkhand High Court.
Justice Mishra, 61, comes from Odisha and earned his LL.B. in 1987 from Delhi University’s Law Department.
He began working as a district judge in Bolangir, where he also won the top spot in the bar exam for district judges.
He began working as Additional District & Sessions Judge in Jeypore on February 16, 2022, and afterwards held the positions of District & Sessions Judge in Sundergarh, Dhenkanal, and Special Judge (CBI) in Bhubaneswar.
Before being promoted to Judge of the Orissa High Court, he previously worked as Registrar General of the Orissa High Court.
On December 24, 2021, Justice Mishra was named Acting Chief Justice after being later moved to the High Court of Uttarakhand, where he accepted responsibility for the position of Judge of the High Court of Uttarakhand.
He served in that capacity until June 28, 2022.
The legal community was waiting for his arrival in Jamshedpur to attend the Utkal Divas event.
