Jamshedpur: Congress members have launched protests against the Prime Minister Modi and the central government throughout the country in response to the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from the Parliament following his conviction in a criminal defamation case.
The protesters said that Rahul Gandhi, who is the former Congress National President and the former MP from Wayanad, Kerala is being persecuted for his political views.
Demonstrations and effigy burnings have occurred throughout the country, including Jamshedpur, where Congress members are protesting on the streets.
At Gandhi Maidan in Mango, Congress leader Guddu Gupta led the Sankalp Satyagraha, protesting against the central government and PM Modi.
Gupta said that the country is in a state of chaos and that freedom of speech has been taken away, causing outrage and turmoil everywhere.
He said that the hasty decision to disqualify Rahul Gandhi’s membership of Parliament in response to a case registered in Gujarat has caused the entire country to be hurt, and the central government will have to face the consequences in the future.
Congress leaders and workers in Parsudih also chanted slogans against PM Modi during a funeral procession of the central government, stating that the country cannot tolerate a Prime Minister like him, and that democracy has been murdered in the country.
