Bang Utsav Kolhan to be organized every year now: Achintam Gupta
Jamshedpur: A grand Bang Utsav Kolhan was organized at Gopal Maidan in Jamshedpur on Sunday as thousands of members of Bengali community thronged the Utsav and took part in different cultural programs and festivities.
As was being expected, at the Bang Utsav Kolhan event on Sunday, the Bengali community showed their solidarity at Gopal Maidan in Jamshedpur.

To demonstrate their support, thousands of members of the Bengali community from the entire Kolhan region attended the ceremony.
The event’s major goals were to unite the Bengali community, provide a platform to discuss concerns affecting their community, and solve difficulties with education and youth.
The opening event was attended by a number of renowned people from the community, including social worker Shekhar Dey, Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato, and organizing committee chairman Achintam Gupta.
The traditional Chhau dance from Bengal’s Purulia region served as the major attraction as the program’s lamp-lighting ceremony and main event got underway.

Both men and women danced in their traditional garb, while children and women also performed traditional Bengali dances.
Many well-known Bengali performers will perform during the event, which will last late into the night.
The gathering was planned, according to the chairman of the organising committee, Achintam Gupta, to bring the people of the community of the entire Kolhan region together and discuss the problems they face.
In the future, the event will take place annually in Kolhan and Jamshedpur, too, he said. A large number of cultural and social groups of the community took part in the event.

Chhau dance is characterized by its elaborate masks, vibrant costumes, and synchronized choreography. The masks, traditionally made of clay or paper mache, are intricately designed and painted to represent various characters from mythology, folklore, and everyday life. These masks not only add a touch of mystique to the performances but also help the dancers embody the essence of the characters they portray. The dancers, often accompanied by live musicians, skillfully execute complex movements, combining agile footwork, graceful hand gestures, and swift body movements.
