Jamshedpur : H3N2 Influenza virus has now reached Jharkhand too. The first positive patient has been found in Jamshedpur and is now being treated in the Isolation Ward of TMH. This has been confirmed by the Civil Surgeon Dr. Jujhar Manjhi.
The concerned lady patient has now been admitted into the isolation ward at TMH.
The Health Department of the district as well as the state has gone into a high alert mode since after the case was confirmed. All the hospitals have been asked to take precautionary measures.
According to the Civil Surgeon Dr. Jujhar Manjhi, samples of 22 patients were sent to the micro virology department for test.
One sample from a lady patient was found positive for H3N2 influenza virus. That patient has now been shifted to the isolation ward at TMH and is being treated.
The health department is now also trying to know the travel history of the patient.
The civil surgeon said that the state government has already issued an advisory on the virus and the department is already in alert mode.
All the private and government hospitals have been asked to take samples for checking and the patients with sympotms are being checked.
H3N2 virus cases have been on the rise in different states of the country, especially the Southern states.
The union health ministry had recently confirmed death of 2 patients due to the virus and had advised use of mask in the same way as was being done during corona pandemic.
Times of India has reported that amid rising viral cases, Bharat Biotech is working on an H3N2 vaccine too.
