School agrees to hold re-exam of 5 subjects after 2 months based on curriculum of last 3 months
Jamshedpur: Agitated parents caused a ruckus at Tagore Academy school on Tuesday after around 125 students of Std 5 to 8 failed and the school management took a tough decision to deal with students with poor academic performance.
The school management allegedly issued TC to 52 students who had failed Std VIII, while four students of Std VI were also issued TC.
The decision of the school management caused widespread anger among the parents and a group of parents created a commotion at the Tagore Society Academy.
On the day the results were made public, 125 pupils in Std 5 through 8 were found to have failed. 52 eighth graders and four sixth graders received transfer certificates (TCs) from the school administration as a result of the decision to take a strict stance on performance.
However, the pupils’ families claim that the school management had the opportunity to promote their children but decided not to, which led to their being detained, failure and a wasted year. Nonetheless, the management of the school made it clear that only students with educational levels assessed as abysmal were issued TCs.
The parents were asked to switch their children to Hindi-medium school by the school administration.
According to the school management, over the whole school year, these kids’ academic performance was terrible, and despite repeated warnings, their parents did not pay heed.
Parents, however, disagreed with the school management’s decision and felt that their students should be promoted.
This caused a lot of ruckus on the school campus.
After a while, the police showed up, and the parents and school administration were asked to reconcile.
Finally, it was agreed to hold a re-examination after two months in five courses using the material from the previous three months’ curriculum, and only those who pass would be promoted.
This option was accepted by the parents and finally a rapprochement was reached between the two sides.

School should not have considered such thing. As this will set up a wrong impression on the other students who have worked so hard to get promoted. Now these students will get more callous and they now know that whatever we do our parents will create and ruckus and we will again get promoted even though we fail. School should stay firm with its decision of getting such students out of school.
