City police crack down on Kanhaiya Singh’s extortion racket, four firearms and bullets seized, one absconds, another out of reach of police
Jamshedpur: The city police have cracked down on the alleged extortion racket being run by Kanhaiya Singh, the now-jailed accused of several cases. In a major breakthrough on Sunday, the Golmuri Police in Jamshedpur have arrested two persons allegedly working in tandem with Kanhaiya Singh, an alleged henchman for infamous gangster Akhilesh Singh, who is an accused in several criminal cases.
According to the City SP K Vijay Shankar, who addressed the media on Sunday announcing the arrests, the police apprehended the two suspects, named as Vishal Jaiswal and Prabhunath Jaiswal, and seized four firearms and bullets based on their statement..
The City SP added that after noticing the cops, one person Ashish managed to flee the site, while another suspect, Suraj, remains out of reach of the cops.
According to the City SP K Vijay Shankar, the police received a tip-off that Kanhaiya Singh’s accomplices were present in Golmuri’s Gadhabasa neighborhood.
He said that a team led by ASP City Subhanshu Jain was put together after the tip-off was received, and the police searched Vishal’s home.
When the police arrived, Ashish, who was present at the place at that time, managed to escape, but Vishal and Prabhunath Jaiswal tried to resist their arrest.
The City SP said that the arrested accused were allegedly employed by Kanhaiya Singh, doing tasks including extortion and money collection on his behalf as well as carrying out shootings when necessary.
The police intend to question the people arrested further after taking them on remand.
The City SP said that Ashish, who is presently on the run, had earlier been sent to jail by Sitaramdera police in connection with a murder case.
The City SP said that the accused would be taken on remand and interrogated further.
