Theme of this year’s Founder’s Day is “Greennovation-Make Tomorrow Green
Jamshedpur: Tata Steel today paid homage to its Founder Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, also regarded as the legendary ‘Father of Indian Industry’ on his 184th Birth Anniversary. Celebrated as the Founder’s Day, the flagship event happens every year at Jamshedpur on March 3 to pay tributes to the founder’s vision of an industrial future with community welfare at its core.
Theme of this year’s celebrations is “Geennovation-Make Tomorrow Green”.

The event in Jamshedpur today was graced by Noel N Tata, Vice Chairman, Tata Steel and T V Narendran, CEO & MD, Tata Steel. Other senior company officials, as well as Union members, were also present during the occasion. The event started with paying homage to the Founder at the Works Main Gate by Vice-Chairman, senior officials, Union members, Group company officials and citizens of Jamshedpur.
In his address to the citizens of Jamshedpur at Bistupur Postal Park, Noel N Tata said: “Today we celebrate the pioneering spirit of our Founder, who spearheaded the founding of this inspiring city, as well as successive generations of leaders, each of whom played a key role in nation-building – not only in industrialisation but also in community support.”

He added, “Another area that can no longer be ignored is the issue of climate change. We have developed a project that covers the entire Tata Group-Aalingana (embrace) which aims net-zero emissions by 2045, pave the way for circular economy through sharing, reusing and recycling; and preserve and restore nature and biodiversity. We were also recognized as Sustainability Champions by worldsteel for the sixth consecutive year. Three sites at Jamshedpur works have also received ResponsibleSteel certification.”
Noel N Tata also visited Tata Workers Union office, besides Steelennium Hall where exhibition on this year’s theme, Geennovation, was organised. The Vice-Chairman also visited iROC (Integrated Remote Operations Centre) and technical exhibition at SNTI-Tech-Ex 2023.

On March 2, 2023, various projects were inaugurated by Noel N Tata in the presence of T V Narendran. They included a Jamshedpur Nature Trail, COVID Warrior Park, Agni structure among others. He inaugurated the illumination at the Founder’s Statue in Jubilee Park as well. The Vice Chairman also met senior office-bearers of Tata Workers’ Union today.

Likewise, the Founder’s Day celebrations were organised at other locations and offices of Tata Steel across the country including Kalinganagar, Meramandali and Raw Materials locations across Jharkhand and Odisha.

Tata Steel Sports Division also organised various sporting activities on March 2 and 3 at JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.
