Jamshedpur: Keeping in mind the oncoming festival of Holi, the Excise Department in Jamshedpur has increased its vigilance.
The department had recently uncovered coloured illicit liquor in Kowali and conducted searches in the Govindpur and Birsa Nagar police station areas.
The Excise department officials also seized at least 210 litres of soaked illicit mahua and burned at least 16,000 kg of Java Mahua that goes into the making of illicit liquor.
The Excise team also raided Manpeeta in Govindpur, as well as Dukhutola Nala and Hurralung River in Birsnagar area, where they found sites where hooch was being produced.
The department team dismantled all of the ovens at these locations, and cases have been registered against four people who are absconding.
During the raids, the liquor traders were not found at the sites.
