Jamshedpur: A large group of residents of Bagbera took out a rally and held a demonstration in Bagbera demanding early execution of the Bagbera Brihad Gramin Jalapurti Yojana, which was started in 2015 by the then chief minister Raghubar Das and which has now stalled.
The protestors were carrying household items and utensils to express their dismay at the stalling of the scheme. They started from Lal Building Durga Puja Grounds and went up to Station Chowk.
According to the 3-year scheme, the construction work was meant to be finished within the time period of 3 years. However, it still remains unfinished.
The protesters claimed that despite having received 211 crores out of the total budget of Rs 237 crore of the scheme, the previous executing agency failed in completing the construction work and was put on blacklist for failing to carry out its obligations.
The task was then handed over to a different agency. However, the work is still pending.
The protestors said that unfinished work under the scheme reflects the department’s sluggish work ethic.
They said that the inability to implement the plan has had an impact on roughly 3 lakh people since the area’s water level has considerably dropped throughout the summer.
The people used the march as a tool to demand action and issued a warning about a large agitation if their requests weren’t met right away and the scheme was not completed soon.
