Extortion accused slashes own throat in Mango Police station lock-up, being treated now

Rushed to MGM Hospital, police investigating source of blade

Jamshedpur: One A Hussain, also known as A Bachha, a resident of Mango, allegedly attempted suicide by slashing his throat with a blade while being under detention in the lock-up of Jamshedpur’s Mango police station.

The act sparked a consternation within the police establishment, and the injured detenu was immediately rushed to MGM Hospital for medical care.

According to police sources, A Bachha, A Bachha, V Gorai, and 8-10 unnamed men are accused in a case of extorting money, a grinder machine, and a bike from a resident of Daigutu near Mango Road No 1 Iqbal Garden.

He was detained by police in connection with the case when he allegedly attempted suicide at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

The police have not released any other information, but they are investigating as to how and from where he obtained the blade that was used for slashing his own throat.

According to police, A Bachha has a police record and has previously served time in jail for acts like violating the Weapons Act. However, the accused claimed that he was innocent and was framed in the case without any reason.

The injured detainee was rushed to MGM Hospital for treatment.

At the moment, he is being treated at MGM Medical and is stated to be out of danger.
