Jamshedpur: The city police have arrested 5 persons in connection with the murder of Md. Shabbir Ahmad, who was shot near Road No. 10 in Azad Nagar police station area some distance away from Kuli Road Coal Outlet and succumbed to his injuries. Four persons have been sent to judicial custody, while one accused is being treated at TMH, after he fell ill.
Md. Shabbir Ahmad was shot on the night of January 13 and was being treated at a Hospital in Kolkata. However, he succumbed to his injuries on January 15.
The police had registered a case in this connection and have arrested 5 persons in the case.

On Monday, all the accused were brought to the SSP office, where they were being taken to jail after being presented before the media.
However, while the arrested accused were being taken out, a number of relatives of the accused reached there and stopped the police van.
The relatives claimed that the arrested youths were not involved in the incident and that they have ample evidence for this.
They said that the victim who was shot and succumbed to his injuries had a previous police record and had enmity with many persons.
Seeing the ruckus being caused by the relatives, the City SP Vijay Shankar got down and spoke to the people gathered near the van. He assured them that the police will do justice in the case. On his assurance, the relatives backed out and let the police drive away the accused.
It may be added here that on the night of January 13, Mohd. Shabbir Ahmed was shot and injured by a few persons.
Shabbir, who was injured in the incident, was admitted to a Hospital in Kolkata for better treatment, where he died on 15 January.
The police had registered a case in this regard and had launched an investigation.

Earlier, on Monday, SSP Prabhat Kumar had told the media that the City SP was monitoring the case.
Soon after, five persons Mohd. Saddam Hussain, Atlik Ahmed, Sarfaraz Alam, Saif Ali Sakir and Mohd Taj were arrested by the police.
All the arrested accused are residents of Kapali and Mango areas.
The SSP said that a day before the incident of firing, on January 12, there was a fight between Shahnawaz alias Chhotu, a resident of Old Purulia Road, Bahara Maidan, and others.
He said that Shabbir had sided with one faction.
The SSP added that apart from this, there was a dispute over the land business too.
The SSP had said that the victim was shot because of this.
The police had also recovered 38 thousand rupees during investigations.
One accused, Taj, is being treated at TMH due to ill health, while the remaining four people have been sent to judicial custody.
