Chandil: A transporter, Dilip Mahto, went missing in a mysterious way on Tuesday afternoon and could not be traced for several hours.
Unhappy with the failure of the police in tracing his whereabouts his relatives and supporters blocked the Tata-Ranchi National Highway near Hot Mount View, causing traffic snarl and long lines of vehicles on both sides of the road.
The family alleged that the administration has failed to locate Dilip Mahto.
Dilip Mahto’s car was found near his village of Birigoda Asanbani, but he is still missing, and his phone has been turned off.
The family fears for his life.
Dilip Mahto resides in Ashiana in Kapali’s Tamolia.
He runs a packers and movers business and has a transportation contract with Brahmanand Hospital.
He is known in the community as a social worker and is affiliated with a political party too. During the last assembly elections, he worked with AJSU.
He had also contested elections twice for Zilla Parishad, ranking second both times.
He was also the President of the Highway Welfare Safety Association.
His mysterious disappearance has sparked speculation and rumors in the local community.
