At least eight people have been killed in Andhra Pradesh during a road show of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu. At least six others were injured.
Crowds thronged TDP’s road show at Kandukur in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district on Wednesday evening. The accident happened due to crowd pressure. The administration has confirmed at least 8 deaths due to the stampede.
It is known that several people were standing next to a hydrant to listen to the Chief Minister’s speech. At one time some from the crowd fell into that hydrant. And three people died of suffocation. And after this incident chaos and stampede started.
Chandrababu Naidu immediately canceled the meeting after this incident. He ordered the party leaders and workers to rush the injured to the hospital.
Meanwhile, PDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has announced compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family members of the victims. He has promised to provide education to the children of the victims in NTR Trust educational institutions.
TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh said the death of our workers is a big loss for the party. My deepest condolences to their families. The injured have been provided with high-quality treatment.
