The three suspects who leaked the tax information of former Army Chief General of Pakistan Qamar Javed Bajwa’s family have been arrested and are now facing legal action. The media reported that they have recorded their statements in the court.
According to Pakistan media, FIA Anti-Corruption Circle has recorded the statements of the three arrested accused.
According to sources, Section 164 statements of the three accused were recorded by duty magistrate Anil Saeed, the arrested accused include Superintendent Arshad Qureshi, Superintendent Shahid Niaz and UDC Adeel Ashraf.
The three officers were formally arrested from Islamabad following a departmental inquiry into the high-level inquiry into leaking tax data of the former army chief’s family. More than a dozen FBR officers were also questioned in the inquiry into the matter.
Mobile phones used by the accused and more than 10 computers were seized and sent to the forensic laboratory.
Media reports said that a high-level team of FIA is investigating the arrested accused, an FIR has been registered against the accused on the request of FBR.
Pakistan Finance Minister Ishaq Dar asked Special Assistant Revenue Tariq Pasha for a report in this regard within 24 hours.
In a statement issued by the Pakistan Ministry of Finance, it was said that anyone’s tax details are confidential, disclosure of tax details is a violation of the Secrecy Act of Pakistan.
