Jamshedpur: The markets and economic activities in the city are seeing a boom just before Christmas festival and new year festivities amid apprehensions of a rise in corona cases in the days to come.
Christmas trees, Santa Claus, and Christmas cards are being sold in almost every market in Jamshedpur. Different buildings and structures in the city have been decorated for the holidays and people are in a celebratory mood, generally, despite apprehensions about corona making a comeback in the days to come.
Jamshedpur is also known as "mini India" and as a result, residents of all religions and communities come together to celebrate all holidays.
As a consequence, the city experiences a flurry of sales of Christmas-related merchandise. However, if the shopkeepers are to be believed, the threat of a new variant of Corona is also worrying them, because if the cases of Corona start increasing once again, the markets will suffer directly.
For now, Christmas trees, Santa toys, Christmas cards, chocolates, and many other decorations are being sold in major markets with fanfare.
However, the vendors are apprehensive too about the course the covid pandemic may take in the days to come.
