Samity chairman Neeraj Singh accuses Banna Gupta of toying with feelings of Hindu devotees, opposes plan to construct stadium in Gandhi Maidan
Jamshedpur: The Gandhi Maidan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti has launched a protest against the makeover of Mango’s historic Gandhi Maidan.
On Sunday, the committee organized a protest by marching in a torchlight rally. The torchlight procession proceeded from Gandhi Maidan to Mango Chowk.
According to the Gandhi Maidan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, Durga Puja has been held in the historic Gandhi Maidan since 1964, but the stadium is being built at Gandhi Maidan as part of a plot by local MLA and state minister Banna Gupta.
While warning minister Banna Gupta not to toy with Hindu feelings, the committee’s chairman, BJP leader Neeraj Singh, requested an immediate halt to building activities.
The committee has also planned a major protest against the minister.
